\n Our company and its group are actively engaged in sustainability, with a focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) perspectives. Particularly, our environmentally friendly methods, such as those concerning fishery resources and ecosystems, have been recognized and certified internationally. We have also focused on environmental conservation efforts.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n \n<\/section>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Our approach to sustainability<\/h2>\n

\n We endorse international marine resource and environmental conservation activities such as those promoted by MSC, ASC, and MEL, advocating for sustainable seafood. As a seafood wholesaler, we were among the first to obtain these certifications and have been actively engaged in these initiatives. Additionally, we are registered as a supporting company for “Fish Day,” an initiative established by the Fisheries Agency. This initiative promotes the selection and consumption of fish as a sustainable consumption behavior outlined in the SDGs. Furthermore, we collaborate with the NPO ‘Umi no Kuni: Nippon,’ an organization that runs a children’s press corps aimed at marine education and raising awareness about the fisheries industry.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

\n Our company is committed to sustainability by obtaining international certifications, such as MSC, ASC, and MEL, to protect both wild and farmed seafood that is managed responsibly and sustainably. We are actively working to eliminate illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUU), which is considered one of the factors contributing to overfishing. To this end, we comply with legal standards and are advancing the development of systems for traceability. Additionally, by having each group company handle different functions within the seafood supply chain, we are working to protect diminishing fishery resources and enhance their value. This approach allows us to implement activities that not only conserve resources but also add value to our products.\n <\/dd>\n <\/dl>\n <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n

Improvement of Human Rights and Working Conditions<\/dt>\n
\n We regularly conduct training sessions based on position and seniority, as well as compliance training, to ensure continuous improvement in our practices and adherence to regulations. Additionally, we have enrolled in Group Long-Term Disability (GLTD) insurance to provide for employees who might find it difficult to continue working due to illness or injury. This initiative is part of our effort to create a secure working environment where employees can feel safe and supported. We revised our personnel evaluation system in the fiscal year 2022, aiming for a more transparent and equitable approach to human resources management. Going forward, we will focus on personnel management that allows every employee to work with a sense of fulfillment and enables talent to thrive within our group.                   MSC\uff08Marin Stewardship Council\uff09<\/h3>\n

                  \n The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification, also known as the ocean ecolabel, is awarded to seafood harvested by fisheries that comply with the environmental standards set by the Marine Stewardship Council, an international non-profit organization (NPO). The MSC was established in 1997 with the aim of helping to restore the world’s declining fishery resources. The headquarters of the MSC is located in London, United Kingdom.
                  \n According to the MSC’s “Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Fishing,” seafood is eligible to bear the “ocean ecolabel” only if it is caught by fisheries that have obtained the “MSC Fisheries Certification” and is properly managed by companies that have obtained the “Chain of Custody (CoC) Certification” throughout all stages of distribution, manufacturing, processing, and sale. This ensures that the product reaching the consumer meets the MSC\u2019s standards for sustainability.
                  \n The “ocean ecolabel” thus serves to ensure sustainable fishing practices and the traceability of seafood products. Our company received this certification in August 2015 and has been actively engaged in these efforts since then.\n <\/p>\n

                        ASC\uff08Aquaculture Stewardship Council\uff09<\/h3>\n

                        \n The ASC is an international certification for responsibly farmed seafood that minimizes environmental and social impacts. Our company, as a seafood wholesaler, obtained MSC certification and, concurrently, achieved ASC certification in August 2015.\n <\/p>\n <\/li>\n

                        MEL<\/h3>\n

                        \n MEL is an internationally recognized Japanese ecolabel certification system. As awareness of the SDGs spreads globally, the adoption of seafood ecolabels is becoming more widespread, increasing their importance for the sustainable use of seafood resources. We are actively working towards goals such as establishing food safety and increasing the transparency of supply chains. The MEL certification scheme covers fishing, aquaculture, and distribution processing.
